Longer hike available  Sucess!

Hiked in 70 degree weather with my friend Rick. However, Munds Mountain Trail does not stop at the top of the switchbacks but rather continues several miles south on top of the mountain. But, as described, it's a three mike hike from the parking area at Schnebly Hill Vista to the trail head. We hiked a total of about 11 miles RT with a combined elevation change of 1800'. We particularly liked the varying terrains we crossed along the way from open high desert, to wooded to pastures at the top. The Munds Mountain trail is reached by an old jeep road and a portion of Schnebly Hill Trail. Nearby the Munds Mountain trail head are the northern trail heads of Hot Loop and Jack's Canyon trails that begin about 8 miles south near the Village of Oak Creek and all meet at the end of a thin ridge connecting to Munds Mountain. We spent 8 hours on these roads/trails hiking, viewing, exploring and lunching. I would recommend that hiking sticks be used particularly when descending the very rocky switchbacks that take one to the top of Munds Mountain.

Great exercise  Sucess!

A little less than 3 hours round-trip with about a 1 hour total drive time getting there and back. Last section to the summit is pretty steep but fun as well.
