Terrific Valuable Resource

Sebastian,

Outstanding list. You made your page very comprehensive with excellent categories. I'll have to slowly go through your list to pick up some books I'm not acquainted with.

Good collection

Hallo Sebastian,

you've quite a good collection and I had to smile, because about 80% of your books you will find on my shelf as well.. ;)
(Except the guide-books, because there the regions are slightly different).

If you are interested I have some recommendations for you (but maybe you read them already):
- "Die weisse Einsamkeit", which is in my opinion Reinhold Messners best written book
- "Die weisse Spinne" (Heinrich Harrer), a classical book
- "Allein auf den Everest" (Göran Kropp), very inspiring reading
- "Aufbruch ins Ungewisse" (Kurt Diemberger)

The book I read right now:

- "Einsame Höhen. Eine Geschichte starker Frauen" (Katelijne van Heukelom), the book tells the impressive story of several women climbing Aconcagua - the special thing about it is, that most of them had breast-cancer before. Makes you think about priorities in life... I found it by accident and my attention was originally catched because Ralf Dujmovits was the leader of this expedition in 2004.

The next book I'm going to buy:

- "Aufwärts. Meine ersten 9 Achttausender" (Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner), will be released on the 16th of March 2007.

Regards,
Herbert

Re: Good collection

Thanks Herb!
I want to read the books of Göran Kropp and Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner the next time.

I have already "Aufbruch ins Ungewisse" and "Die weisse Spinne" and listed in my list. ;-)
The book of Harrer is in the old book section.

Apropos Kurt Diemberger, he has a new book in the pipeline "Seiltanz". Release date is March 2007.

Cheers!
Sebastian

Re: Good collection

Oh yes, I've missed the section "Old books"...
And now I saw one book there, I was already thinking about several times: "Annapurna" by Maurice Herzog - that might be one of my next purchases. Thanks for the hint regarding "Seiltanz".

Interesting page

Hi Sebastian,

nice list, you've got quite an impressive collection! Some interesting reading there. I've just read 'Extreme Alpinism' by Mark Twight and can recommend it, perhaps something to add to your collection. A bit gung-ho but some interesting insight and very inspiring.

Re: Great idea!

Thank you very much. Last week I bought three old books of the german alpine club from 1899 - 1909 and some other old magazine from mmountaineering during the WWII, all very interesting. The collection is still rising. ;-)

Thanks.
Sebastian
