Cloudy
Rainy, misty trip.... We had a good clear patch in the afternoon, but clouds closed in again right as we reached the summit. Easy fun peak!
Up Snowgrass Flat trail, down Berry Patch trail, 10.5 hours car to car.

Ski trip
Approached from the south, up the snowed-in road to Chambers Lake area, then up Goat Creek onto Snowgrass Flat. Thought I’d died and gone to heaven, the Goat Rocks range must have been designed and constructed by a mountain god who was wanting a place to ski.

Climbed with my daughter at age 8. It was her first and last mountaineering experience. Met Paul Baugher and had a very nice chat. On the way out ExcitableGirl charmed a man with a horse into letting her ride his horse for the entire hike out.

Ives/Snowy Traverse
My wife had school work to take care of, so at the last minute I decided to return to the Goat Rocks. This time, my dog Cammie came along for the climb. We ascended to the col just left of Ives from the PCT/Snowgrass junction. The view from here may be the best in the wilderness. We then continued along the ridge crest for a Snowy summit bivy. The hikers on Snowy were surprised to see us coming from that direction! The wind and rain picked up into the night and we made a rapid retreat the next morning. A beautiful area.
Nice little detour to a beautiful viewpoint while hiking from Snowgrass Flats to Goat Lake.

Old Snowy
Hiked up this one from the PCT. Nice views. My first trip to Goat Rocks. I'll be back... Sun set while on top, so any thoughts of scrambling to Ives were erased! Neat to see Adams and Rainier under light of the full moon.

Trail / Traverse
Simple trail to top of Old Snowy, and a fun alpine traverse over to Ives. Red red wine make me feel so fine.
