Excellent photo ...!We have a "Packard Trail" here in central Arizona.
Just wondering if Mister Packard decided to
seek out warmer climates after his airplane
beacon wore out ...
What kind of road? Is that an old mining
road that leads into the vegetation to the
right of Flattop ???
Melinda, there's some really INTERESTING country in your neck of the woods.

Re: Excellent photo ...!Actually you're not that far off. John Q Packard was a mining entrepreneur and had a lot of success in the Tintic Mountains. He later moved to a warmer climate in California.
I noticed the road that you are talking about. It's a 4wd jeep road that may have led to mines. This looked like a good route to start hiking up the ridge toward Flattop and Packard Peak.
