Snow started dumping as we started hiking in. We hiked towards Diamond Lake, blazing our own trail and navigating with a compass since we couldn't see anything. We never saw the lake. We made it to the base of a mountain, assuming it was this one. We couldn't see how steep the snow covered slopes and ledges were above us. We called it off due to safety. Snow covered our existing tracks so we had to once again navigate with the compass back to the 4th of July trail. It took some very skillful driving with a 4wd to get out of there. I'd be surprised if anyone makes it back up there this season. With Courtney. Fun times!
My friend Matt and I hiked to the rocks, and climbed up to the summit in little more than 2 hours. The weather was near perfect and the views tremendous!
