Been up here lots!
Having spent summers nearby, we'd go up Pine Mtn and Buzzard's Roosts frequently. Love it up there!

Pine Mountain Trail
Nice hike away from the crowds near the park HQ. The last 0.3 miles is overgrown as the park is letting it return to native and there are NO views from the actual summit. The class 4 summit block for Pine Mtn Pinnacle is a treat along with Buzzard's Roost.

with Buzzards Roost
After finishing Chalk Mountain from the coast we drove to BBR Park HQ ands hiked the easy trail to Buzzards Roost and Pine Mountain. The last part to the summit of Pine was signed because of downfall but easily passable.

The Roost and Pine
Half Day of peakbagging in the Santa Cruz Mtns - Santa Rosalia first, then over to Big Basin for Buzzards Roost and Pine Mtn. Highlight of the day was scrambling up and down the rocks at the radio site. Worth another visit sometime. TR is HERE.

The Roost
First to Buzzards Roost, then into the woods to avoid the revegetating area, and on to the summit's pile of rocks. With no view whatsoever from the top, it's better to just be happy with the Roost, linger there, take in the view, and head back down.

Pine Mountain Trail
Came for Buzzard's Roost, stayed for Pine Mountain. Besides the peakbagging aspect of it, BR and the nearby radio tower rocks were much more fun.. lots of great scrambling.

Hiked up here and then around Berry Creek Falls on a cool, foggy day. The summit of Pine Mtn is anticlimatic, but Buzzards Roost might be one of the prettiest spots in the Bay Area.
