Perfect day for a hike to a secret place
I camped out Saturday night up just a valley away from Secret Peak. I started hiking at first light on Sunday, crossed Devil's Slide Canyon to then reach a side-by-side trail that more or less led all the way to the base of the final ascent. Was a perfect morning. Upon coming back down, I stopped in Devil's Slide and enjoyed a cool-down with my feet in the stream.
Parked at the Secret-Starr trailhead just off the highway and started hoofing it from there with my buddy Andrew. Took a 4-wheel drive road in some parts but most of it was off trail and straight up in quite a few spots. Took around 3 hours to reach the summit, signed the register and took some pictures. Difficult but well worth the scratches and sunburn!
