Sunny? What happened to the sunny forecast? At least you got decent visibility and good snow. Nice shots!

Re: Sunny?....yeah right sunny! These weather forecasters are full of it (voodoo...not science!). But it wasn't raining at least. What did you end up doing on this "sunny" weekend?

Re: Sunny?Well, figured if OR was going to be sunny WA couldn't be that bad!?!, so skined up to Camp Muir on Rainier but in the afternoon a storm moved in, barely made it out before dark . Skiing down in zero visibility and not exactly knowing where you go was a bit too much...

Re: Sunny? Thanks! I posted few pics though a bit cloudy. The snow was great but just couldn't see anything coming down and had not been on Muir since 1997 so the terrain was not so familiar. Was pretty happy to get out of there without getting lost and before dark. Looks like you kept pretty busy too, Cascades to coast, rain or shine, good job!

Snow Camping 'Back in The Day'Your snowy photo reminds me of winter camping at that spot with my Boy Scout troop close to 35 years ago!
We had a climbing rope and gear and practiced rapelling off old foundation anchors for the lookout.
(Way back there was the main lookout at this site and the smaller wooden shack on Rooster Rock proper.)
Made a number of summer times trip to the Menagerie over the years. A great place.
You had some nice views as the clouds were not right down on you. Any day out is good, even with a bit of snow.
