Smokies Spring Rhododendron

Spring rhododendron blooms on the Alum Cave Trail. We saw these blooms on the trail just below the Alum Cave Bluffs. Seeing these blooms was a pleasant surprise, as in all of my May trips up the Alum Cave Trail, I do not ever remember seeing the rhododendron blooming this early in spring.
