Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

What about Robert's Horn - a prominent feature located just NE of Timp's summit,
but separated by a major basin.

The person who posted the photo has limited
English, is NEW to this site and also NEW to
the Wasatch Range area.

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

My sources have just revealed to me that this
is NOT Robert's Horn. In fact, is it even
located in the Wasatch???

Perhaps it should be called "Mountain of Mystery???"

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

To Bradley,
The first photo of the Timp I imported to SP day before was made 2-4 miles max from this picture around of the other side of this mountain. The one I email you was from the top of this hill facing the Timp. summit. Thanks for your voting and all your help.

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

Excuse me, Aranka? My most reliable of
reliable sources is telling me that this
picture was taken in the western Uintas.

Is that true?

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

The first photo of Mt. Timp. I made was from the east side. At the same time few hours later I took the other photos from west side of the mountain region. This last one is from the north side. Now I know I have to go back.

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

Timp does have quite a bit of quartzite too, which could be the rock in the photo.

I wonder if the scene in the photo isn't a peak at all, but mearly the terminus of one of the spurs off the northern peaks of the mountain. Sundance came to mind first, but the person who took the photo said it was taken on the north side of the peak?

I have to admit that I thought I knew Timp pretty well, but it doesn't look familiar to me either.

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

Scott, It could be North/West side. I placed 6 or more images of this hike. You may see it better from the summit of this hill. Thank you.

Re: Wrong rock type for Timp area.

Aranka? I'm thinking it could be somewhere in
the "Giant Staircase/Wooley Hole" area. Do you
have access to a topographic map??

How far did you have to hike? Do you remember
seeing a waterfall?

Perhaps 'Scott' has a more accurate answer.
