Squaw and Explorer Peaks

Squaw and Explorer Peaks

The yellow Squaw Peak (12855') on the left and the red Explorer Peak (12708') on the right in the back. Explorer Peak is possibly the most remote peak of the Uintas with a distance of over 11.5 miles (as the crow flies) to the nearest trailhead. July-20-2013

Re: Gorgeous shot!

Thanks! This was a spur of the moment trip as 3 days with no chance of thunderstorms suddenly appeared in the forecast.

Beautiful view!

A very inviting scene. The right side of Yellow Squaw looks not so good but the right ridge walk up looks fun.

Re: Beautiful view!

Thanks! You're right, it was easy getting to Squaw from where we were, but we found the far side (unseen in the picture) to be a lot tougher with lots of loose rock and it took a long time to make it to the top of Explorer.
