Surprisingly good and fun
W/ Michelle. Route started at Jones Pass lot near the mine. An extraordinarily beautiful hike in a setting that is simply not visible from below. Final 500-600 feet place you well to view many other peaks. May be one of the top 5 easy hikes with 45 mins of town, and no crowds. Choose the Jones Pass trailhead over Berthoud.

Berthoud Pass
With Maria. Great weather all day. It was warm near the pass, but the wind picked up on the ridge and cooled things down a bit. It was Labor Day weekend, so there were plenty of hikers on the trails this day.

Berthoud Pass Route
What a glorious day! Clear blue sky in the morning with calm winds. The clouds started to build later on and the winds picked up, but it was still a phenomenal day. Smiled the whole darn time!
Climbed up from the "Henderson Cut-off" trail from the mine site, left the trail and headed for Vasquez Pass and ascended the west slopes from there, its more direct than taking the CDT, but really isn't a trail. A trail shows on the maps but doesn't really exist, probably more "environmentally conscious" to stick to the CDT. Ran the ridge to Vasquez and then back down to the CDT and my car.
I hiked solo up to this summit from Berthoud Pass in a quest to regain my pre-pregnancy stamina and endurance. I saw only a few people but mostly lower down by the pass. I had the summit to myself and terrific views of the Vasquez Mountains!

This would be a great hike for someone who is new to the Colorado mountains, since it is fairly short and easy and offers terrific views.

Started from Jones Pass Rd parking area
Did this from the bottom of the mountian at the parking of the bottom of Jones Pass Rd. Elevation gain about 2,100 feet. Cut up the valley to Vasquez Pass to avoid all the snow on the trail. Steep hike up the Contenental Divide. About 2.5 hours to the top, and 1 hour 25 minutes to the bottom.

Running the divide!
The excellent trail made for an awesome run. This short and sweet run is about 7.2 miles and 1700 feet roundtrip and is almost all above treeline. 1:28 round trip from Berthoud without pushing too hard.
