I like it...now that I know what the summit actually looks like!

In my opinion,it looks like a small civilization; like
somebody could actually LIVE on the broad
summit plateau. When my wife arrived here
from the Philippines, she wondered why
more people weren't inhabiting the
mountains.
I told her that most folks don't want to
give up their proximity to WalMart !!!

View from the topTrue that the actual summit offers no views because of the trees, but if you walk a little ways to the north-northwest, about 2000 feet judging by the topo, you will be afforded one of the best geological views in the American West. The Waterpocket Fold monocline and the Circle Cliffs are prominently seen from this overlook. One can clearly see that the scale of the sedimentary structures is so much greater than the actual surface relief of the cliffs and mountains. Please recommend to anyone going to the summit of Navajo Mountain that they take the extra little walk from the actual summit to the overlook on the NW side.

Re: View from the topThanks for adding this. When we were there, we were postholing in the snow at the summit and had no desire to try and push to the north where we had heard there was a great view of Rainbow Arch. Those who visit in better conditions should indeed make the effort to visit the north viewpoint.
