BTW a word of advice. Careful out there with your "7", "8", and "9" votes. I know you mean well, but ... Voting anything less than 10 usually makes an SP picture drop in rank, so it could ruffle lots of feathers ;)
Just check what's happening with the "overall score" of a picture after you vote, and make your own conclusions. (Not "this" picture ... this one already has too many votes to budge when you slap an eight :)

Re: sensitive?I don't think it is the right word LOL. I just think that we tend to be a tad egomaniac, in one way or another. So a desire to see our own pictures higher in the galleries, ahead of others' nice pictures, just comes with the territory.
And the default sorting order of images in SP's albums and galleries is, yes, by the score. So few people are rubbed the right way when their fav shots drop in score ... even the most insensitive SP pigs LOL!

Gotcha...Makes sense. From now on I'll try to keep my editorial eye in check. :) I wouldn't want to ruffle a fellow climber's feathers--especially over something like this! There are far bigger battles out there! Got to pick 'em wisely. :)
You know, I should try to get some of my stuff on here. Most of my, uh, "true" nature/landscape photography is in black and white, (and may that never change!) and I don't have access to a scanner at the moment, and it's not a big enough deal to me to go out and pay to have stuff scanned. I have a bunch of color digital images that I took from my point-and-shoot digital, and the quality isn't really that great so it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit to see them fall waaay down in the SP ratings--I took most of them just so I could study them later so I could remember routes, conditions, general geography, biological/geological/mountain weather phenomena (I'm a complete nerd when it comes to this kind of stuff, especially mtn. weather), what a particular trailhead looks like, and other "recon" type info... kind of the long version of a polaroid. But someone may hopefully find them useful. I've gotten a lot of great beta from SP, so I guess it's only fair to return the favor. :)

Yeah, it cracked me up about that one hundreth of one percent. I guess the major reason for this oh-so-huge-effects is that in the early days of SP, some members created armies of avatars to vote on stuff. To keep that sort of a vote abuse in check, nowadays the voting power of the members depends on how much they contribute to SP. A sockpuppet avatar without any contributions is given a featherlight weight ... but so is any well-meaning new member too!
