Wind River Range Slam Peak 16 of 29  Sucess!

This was our 16th peak, of a 2 week Wild River Slam where I climbed all the 13ers in the Winds and finished the Wyoming 13ers on August 3, 2020. We traversed to it after climbing Turret from Backpackers Pass. We spiced it up and climbed directly up the headwall right to the summit on some potential low 5th class stuff.

Sunbeam Peak  Sucess!

On my "rest" day after hiking the Glacier Trail, I decided to climb up real quick to the summit of Sunbeam. From my tent at ~10,700, I was able to get to the top via Blaurock Pass in 2.5 hours. A very nice summit, worth climbing. It still has the original summit log from 1961 up there. I was going to climb Febbas as well when I was up there, but a storm was moving in really quick and I needed to get down.

Great summit!  Sucess!

Solo climb from camp at Wilson Meadows via Blaurock Pass. Interesting summit with incredible views, especially of Turret Peak. Also climbed Febbas.

Sunbeam Peak  Sucess!

From my tentsite at 10,500 ft near the Glacier Trail, I climbed to Blaurock Pass and then headed right along the ridge to the summit of Sunbeam Pk. The ascent from my tent to the summit took a little over three hours. New snow from a few days earlier still clung to the north facing rocks, but did not cause any real difficulities, even where the ridge narrows near the summit. The return to Blaurock Pass from the summit reduced the distance and time of the ascent by crossing snowfields; the descent took only 26 minutes, about half of what it took me to go up the ridge. The weather was perfect, sunny and mild with just a little breeze. I also climbed Mt Febbas (see entry).
