Camped in the East Rosebud CG and got an early start. Hiked the Beaten Path trail for about two miles then left the trail and went up Snow Creek to Snow Lakes. We started skinning at about 7,000' after a hell of a boulder hop. We then took the drainage due East above Snow Lakes to the peak, ski crampons were necessary for this section. From the peak, we descended down the plateau to the Cham Couloir which turned out to be unskiable debris all the way back down to Rosebud Creek. We got to the parking lot and I found about 20 ticks on me. Long day, but a beauty. If you're trying to ski the Cham Couloir, do it in March or early April.

Not so easy
I thought this route would be an easy day trip to get to Bowback. Just remember even after you reach the plateau you've climbed 3500 feet from the trailhead and still have nearly 2000 more to go. I was whipped by the time I got to Sylvan and even Elk mountain seemed like it would turn into dark return to the car. I bailed out and got back down to East Rosebud by 7 and just made it to Absarokee's Dew Drop Inn for a burger before they closed. Others might do just fine, but consider yourself warned.

On my way "back"
I bivied near the highest tarn in upper snow creek drainage and climbed the snow to the saddle between Inabnit and Bowback. I ascended Inabnit and then proceeded to ascend the west ridge of Bowback Mountain and run the East Rosebud Plateau over Elk Mountain and Sylvan Peak and descended the north side of Sylvan.
