The Sulphurous Cave of Torja

Grota Sulfuroasă (RO), Büdös-barlang (HU) is one of Europe´s strongest natural mofettes emitting about 3000 cubic meters of sulphurous carbon dioxide daily. Peştera Puturosu (RO) is actually deserted shaft of old sulphur mine, which is 14  m long of which 7 m is used for medical treatment. Gas level is indicated in stone walls of the entrance by yellow sulphur deposition. The safest way to check the level of toxic gas is with open flame.
