First Catskills hike
Coming from the whites and the dacks, these peaks were no slacks. The views weren't the best, but you can't have it all.

#3 but a ways to go
The last new peak of day. Glad someone put cairns near top or wouldn't have realized I summited. Sat forn5 minutes since that all flies would allow and than backtracked upa nd down black dome tom parking lot. Fun day all around. Grabbed beers at Cave Mountain Brewery in Windam after.

Wet!
Climbed it with my wife from Barnum Road. It was a wet & rainy day. We had planned on snowshoeing it, but due to warmer weather and lot's rain, we ended up just hiking it in the rain.

Blackhead, Dome and Thomas Cole with Camel Hump.
Great hike with spectacular fall foliage! Black Dome was the best scramble of the three, in my opinion. Not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. 6hrs round trip with a couple breaks on the Summits.

quiet mountain except
For the large group of Koreans having a loud, campfire barbecue near the summit rock. The western approach from Barnum Road was through a high mountain meadow and was gentle for the most part, especially when compared to the col between Black Dome and Black Head. One hour and forty five minutes from the west TH to the summit. Then I went over to the other two.

Blackhead-Windham hike
Went over the Blackhead range and Windham with two friends. Had called a taxi to pick us up at the end to drive us back to our car, but it left us stranded! Was thankfully able to get a ride from another hiker.

Great winter hike
Did the Blackhead range with three friends. Great weather, not too much ice. Microspikes were sufficient (barely, at times), and I was glad we had one ice axe to share between us.

Not much to see
Hiked the Blackhead Range for my winter Blackhead and my 1st time for Thomas Cole, not much for views, but a nice forest walk nonetheless.

Thomas Cole
Climbed with Blackhead and Black Dome via the Black Dome Range Trail from Big Hollow Road. Had a good time traversing the ridge from Black Dome. Thomas Cole is probably the least interesting of the Blackhead Mountains but it does offer a splendid sense of solitude.

from Big Hollow Road
Hit Black Dome, Thomas Cole and Blackhead from Big Hollow road. Descended Blackhead on N. side via Escarpment Trail - very icy, would have used a rope if I had brought one. Lots of fresh snow, kept snowshoes on all day.

After I was on Black Dome, I took the walk over to Thomas Cole. Too bad there are no views on this mountain, but it's still a nice hike to be had.
