As viewed from the south along the Long Canyon Trail, this spire is actually two fingers (or "lips") of rock, with a third finger hidden behind the closest finger (to the camera), as shown here ..
Believe me, it takes a highly skilled "BUSH WHACKER" to hike to the base of this spire, and begin the "Tip Toe Through The Two Lips" climbing route.
Note the "desert varnish" on the red wall to the left.
