What an awesome country! Can't wait to go there. There are some great reports from a dutch woman (Jolanda Linschooten) who hiked Iceland from coast to coast, which can be found in the book 'Poollicht' (in dutch).
I was stationed at Keflavik (which actually happens to be the Reyk airport) for a year. Iceland is so gorgeous!! my wife and i used to walk home from the pub during the dark season and just lay on the ground and watch the northern lights, so many good times. I soooo recomend hitting up Reykavik on new years eve!! They throw one helluva fireworks display, i'd go back in a heart beat and i think its one place everyone should visit before they die. I have pics from my stay on my page as well, many of the same actually. very good report, brings back good memories for sure!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I would love to go back as well. I remember Keflavik well. I've also heard about the parties in the streets in Reykjavik, I bet New Years Eve is crazy there.
Thanks for your service to our country! My college roommate just retired from the AF. He flew fighters in Iraq and Kosovo. And my wife used to live in Colorado Springs. Go Air Force!
Right on! Have a great time. Hope you get decent weather. Maybe you can post an album of photos when you get back. Would love to see more photos from this place.
Thanks for the report, its helps me in my trip. 30 April to 15 May I will be in Iceland, anybody interested in climbing the Hvannadalshnukur, contact with me
WOW! Cool photos, good write up. I've been to Reykjavik before, but only for a layover. Next time I'll have to take them up on a free delay of my flight back home.
