I started out in El Tingo, following a steep, well chewed dirt road directly up toward the summit. Encountered the big cross after about an hour and 20 minutes, then continued down, up and over to the main summit. I reached the top after 2 hours, and walked down the other side of the mountain into Tumbaco. Great views, especially on the way up. Very windy/dusty, as is to be expected during the Ecuadorian summer. 4 hours in total.

Fun time
Started walking from Campo Alegre but when we reach the Panamericana we caught a bus up the mountain. Took us way up for quite a great start, though it feels a little like cheating. Cobblestone road melted into footpath, into cobblestone road, into dirt road, and finally to footpaths among farmland. Eventually we worked our way to the first cross which we noticed had just been graffito tagged the same day. Second cross reached and descended to the community on the other side where they were celebrating Carnaval. Whoops. Our bus back to Tumbaco was splattered with so many water balloons and eggs.

Route Climbed: La Integral del Ilaló.
Hiked with Boris (my son). We started at 9:50 from El Tingo. It took us just 3:30 hours to hike and climb the whole complex and to reach both summits.
Awesome views of all the ecuadorian mountains in both Cordilleras.
We met with two canadian girls on our way down. They did the same as us but in reverse.
