No guide book that I know of. There is that website that I mention on the main page. Locals are working hard to preserve as much of Wade Mountain as possible before it's too late.
When I was a kid I used to climb it when visiting my oldest brother who lived right at the base. We'd go out his back door and start climbing. In those days (early 70s), the mountain was in good shape--just a couple of power line crossings and a road for line maintanence. I've been told several hundred acres of the mountain were timbered in the past couple of years.
Wish someone who lives near Wade would post some more recent photos. Much of the mountain is under protection, now (but they lost some of the forest to logging a couple years ago). The big tulip poplars are still there, I hear.

Untitled CommentNice one, Bob! I would recommend a little post processing of the pictures - they could use a little more contrast (less brightness) and sharpness.
Cheers

Untitled CommentInteresting place and a nice page.
Is there a guidebook to this area you can add?

I wish someone would add some recent photos. I don't have any trips planned to that part of the South for some time.
Monte Sano would be a great addition to summitpost.

Wish I had a chance to visit it again. I've been told the big trees we found on the ridge when I was a kid are still there.
