"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

great solo dayHad a great spring day on Mt. Hood in the spring of ’04. Solo scramble, approached via standard King Creek access to the West Face. The standard scramble route was loaded with a lot of unstable snow. Picked a difficult scramble line (4 class climbing and several 5.5 steps) to avoid the bigger snow slopes. Did cross the odd small snow slopes; hip deep slogging. Gained summits slopes soon after making South Ridge, the final snow slope was fun, huge and solid water ice base, overlaid with boot top deep snow, crampons definitely required. Descended the same route. Camera had no charge, thus no photos, and managed to up pick up 2 wood ticks on the hike out.
