The benefits of being retired: I can often take time to work on projects like this. I just appreciate that Attm offered me the chance. It's a really neat area and I hope that this page encourages others to come pay Oklahoma a visit. :-) --mark d.
I grew up in Lawton,OK and spent too many years there. I know the WMWR like the back of my hand and even worked there for a while. Mark Dorian (from Midwest City, OK) sounds like he knows the place very well, I could not have said things better. The WMWR is the jewel of OKLA and a very inexpensive trip to take. well worth the time and effort, especially if you are ever close-by. A very well done and informative page; kudos to Mark and those who may have also contributed!!! Scott Collins, Lawton and Tulsa OKLA.
Thanks for the really nice comment, Scott. There are still many areas for me to explore in the Wichitas, so I look forward to yet more great adventure in this (aptly stated by you) "jewel of Oklahoma". Later this month I'll be taking a Boy Scout troop down there, creating yet one more crop of excitement among those who are unaware of this fascinating place's existence. --mark d.
Thanks for looking and commenting. The Wichitas are the jewel of Oklahoma--my favorite place in a state otherwise (and incorrectly) known as being flat. --mark d.
I think I'll go through all of the links and maybe change out a few pic's. If anyone has any info that they know needs update, please let Bubba or me know. Give us a few days.
While a few items can certainly be updated, Summitpost is really driven on user contributions. In other words, you ought to consider posting pictures, trip reports, and such. Honestly, there is a lot that needs to be developed in the Wichitas. Area pages, route pages and several peaks are all unlisted. These would help keeping Summitpost up to date on the Wichitas.
Here are some recently posted pages for the area:

Perhaps this will give you some ideas. I hope to see more stuff from the area!
Thanks for pointing out that the page needed a refresh. I have reviewed the links, and a number were broken. They should all now be working. I've also updated the cost information for the camping (which will be a never-ending battle to keep current). Also added info about Styx Canyon, for which Bubba has added a great page. I had a trip planned to go down there last week and shoot some fresh pic's, but I came down with a bad case of whatever is going around and have been laid up in bed. Perhaps in the near future. In the meantime, please have a look and if you note any problems, point them out and we'll get them fixed! --mark d.

Re: Dude......Mark Doiron gets the credit for that page. He did most of the work on it in the last couple days. Not what you expect from Oklahoma, is it...

Re: Dude......Mark gets to take all the credit. The page was dormant for two years and he resuscitated it almost overnight.
