"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Up to the Ridge from the White RimOn our biking trip on the White Rim one of our vehicles broke down at Candlestick Campground. While some of our people took the other vehicle back out, some of us rode down to the Wilhite Trailhead and hiked up to the Island in the Sky. The first 2.6 miles was easy draw hiking. The last 2.3 were steep and ascended a rock fall. Unbelievable views from the top.

Wilhite TrailAt 8 oclock, it was 29 degrees F at the trailhead. There was no wind and it felt very pleasant during the rest of the day. The landscape was mesmerising. I really felt like a lone astronaut lost on the surface of Mars.
