Traverse-Solo
7-15 am start from Les Fontanettes (Parking) Passing Refuge Le Haut de Marlens easy walking via a good path up the 'normal route' zig zags bringing you out onto the North West Ridge (Facile-easy) Topped out 2 hours from start Chamoise on summit and great views of Mont Blanc. Descent down East Ridge (Arete du Lac) graded PD- but with a via ferretta cable to assist if needed due to exposure, nothing harder than a grade 2 scramble though, (English grading) in descent. At end of ridge easy walk off to the delightful Lac Du Charvin then a good path ascending scree slightly to a col then drop off and hit return path back to start passing the refuge again. My round was fairly fast under superb conditions inc 20 mins on top. 4 hours 30 mins. Recommended traverse. (If you do use the via ferretta cable gloves may be handy!) Great morning-fantastic limestone scenery.

Normal route (West side)
03h to climb up at a normal pace. Sunny all day long. Mountains birds (gypaètes) flying around. And splendid view on Mont-Blanc and Aiguille Verte on top.
