Snow!At least you've got some snow. Our mountains are still mostly bare. Soooooooooo depressing...

Re: Snow!Bummer! What's going on with Colorado? I heard that last year there was just about no snow all year long. -Adam

Re: Snow!Yes Adam that would be correct. Colorado is becoming more and more like a desert (more than it already is)

Re: Snow!Yeah, could be connected to global warming ...
I only had my backyard bird-bath freeze
three times so far this month ... an indication that things are HEATING UP !

Re: Snow!Things seem to be heating up here in the Alps as well...This is already the second time in a row that one can go right above the 2000-meter line without touching any snow at the very end of November!

Re: Snow!My mother once told me: "A watched kettle never boils" ---
Things have ALWAYS been heating up in the Alps, ever since "Heidi" came out in 1968!

Awesome photo!Another great photo from your countless mountain adventures, Adam.
Are you wearing small snowshoes, the kind with side edges with teeth?

Re: Awesome photo! Thanks Marc! Yesterday we were both wearing MSR Lighting Ascents which have good kleets along the edges.
In the Cascades we often have a hard crust on the surface of the snow, so smaller MSR snowshoes are ideal, especially for traversing. But in places like Colorado where there is deep powder, something bigger would be better.

Re: Awesome photo! It's only deep powder below treeline (which sucks ass to snowshoe in). Typically the snow above treeline is windblown rock hard.
