First Mountain in years
My wife and I climbed this peak, and realized how out of shape I was. It was a hard hike to the summit for me, and an even harder decent.

Route Climbed: Deer canyon
I visited the summit two times, first time in September 2009 and second time in August 2012. It takes a day's bike travel from IF across the vast expanse of sagebrush to reach Deer Canyon at the foot of Saddle mountain. In Deer Canyon sleep under sky full of stars and then it goes through thick bushes and scramble straight upwards. In 2012 the north facing slopes of Saddle mountain were scarred by wildfire. Fortunately many trees seem to have survived the fire. Climber's log on the summit shows that the climbers who visit it in a year can be counted on hand's fingers. When I climbed in August 2012 it was very hot. I didn't take water and could taste salt in my mouth when going down. If I ever return to the USA then my dream is to visit Saddle Mountain again.

Nice east side snow climb on a sunny windless day. hung around on top too long and the snow got dangerous, Started a small avey and rode it for about 400' scabbed ass and damaged pride was the only price.

East Ridge
This was a second attempt. Unable to summit 5/16/99 due to new snow loading.

I looked at this mountain everyday as I walked out the door. Decided to climb it, alone. Isolated. Not only was I the only person on the mountain, I might have had the whole range to myself that day.
