Love this photo ..If that goat had ONE horn, it would be the
spitting image of a Unicorn.
Definitely has a mystical atmosphere!

Re: Love this photo ..Thanks. I was fortunate to come across this goat. While I am sure they are pretty common in the Black Hills, this is the only one I saw all day.

Re: Love this photo ..That looks neat how the trees rise out of
the tall grasses like that.
Don't you worry 'bout snakes? In Arizona,
we have less grass, so you can usually spot
a snake from a long ways away.

Re: Love this photo ..Generally, in the midwest and northeast the only venomous snakes are rattlesnakes. They seem to generally stay away from areas where there are people. So, when I do trail hiking I don't usually worry about snakes.
When you go off-trail, there is a concern with the grasses hiding snakes. However, snakebites are a rare event here.
I looked up South Dakota snakes, and it turns out that the prairie rattlesnake only lives in open prairie land. So, I doubt they would live at the higher elevations in the Black Hills.
