I had decided to try climbing Gerlachovský a couple of weeks earlier - provided I could get enough information, get around the red tape and have good weather.

Only the previous day I had overcome the last hurdles, and the weather forecast was fantastic: warm, lots of sun and zero chance of rain (let alone thunderstorms), so I decided not to wait any longer.
