Yellow FinchI'm not a birder, but I think that is a Yellow Finch.

Re: Yellow FinchNice pic Caleb! Let's consider this identification a bit. There is a species called the American Goldfinch which is also bright yellow in color, but it has black wings and a black cap. This little guy has an all-yellow head, and if I'm not mistaken there are faint red streaks on its underside, which would ID it as a Yellow Warbler. They prefer to live near water, and can be found all over North America, so it apparently doesn't take much water. I can surely believe that the Yellow Warbler could be found in NW Nevada, but if this was taken in Oregon, I know for sure that they are abundant in the Fields/Malheur vicinity.

Re: Yellow FinchThanks Bob; I took this picture the weekend we were all camped in Fields so it was definitely taken in that area. If I recall, I took it when I was driving up Wilder Creek on my way to Bilk Creek HP.
