thanks Taco, and yes, Cucamonga and Etiwanda Peak both looked very badass from Buck Point. Too bad these slopes were not north facing otherwise I am sure you would see some winter climbing potential.
Most of the gunshots we heard were coming from Day Creek Wash and some from somewhere around Etiwanda Canyon. It really added to the artillery like effect by having gunshots going off from either direction on either side of us.
You guys sparked my curiosity with your posts on the forum. I scouted out the area this week for a future hike in the next week or so. Thanks for all the beta. I'm just curious how long the climb took you guys from car to car. Thanks
Here is my website where you can download the GPS tracks
I just opened the .gpx file to get the stats. We started at 7:00 am and finished at 3:30 pm = 8.5 hours car to car. However, we did catch a ride for the first 1.5 miles in the back of a pickup truck which saved us 20 minutes or so,
When it happened to me I was able to take off my shoes and do the steep downhill barefoot, but it looks a bit cold where you were to have that option. Toes! They have been the biggest limiting factor to my hiking! I could go forever if my toes would cooperate! ;)

Re: Toes and Trips...Tanya,
Thank you for your sympathy. A true friend! (Yes, honestly it was truly painful).
