Serious question ...Were there some folks who were vegetarians
back then, or did everybody secretly eat
meat when they returned home to their
backyard barbecue ??? ?

Re: Serious question ...You know I can't remember a single vegetarian anywhere in my life in the 60s or even the early 70s. I went to college with some guys who lived on beer but no vegetarians that I remember....

Re: Serious question ...That's funny.
In today's hectic Society, everybody
claims to be a vegetarian just for the hell
of it - or perhaps for some attention.
I blame everything on the quality of
drinking water.
It causes people to make claims that are not
always true; but then, nobody's PERFECT.

Re: Serious question ...I have a funny story about this from our 10 day canoe trip in 2002 with the guys. We ordered freeze-dried vegetarian meals for our Hindu Scout on that trip and his food was the best of all!
Since each packet was meant for four but actually served only 2 hearty teenage boys we had the kids draw lots each meal to see who would share his breakfasts and lunches. They were that good!

Re: Serious question ...Now, that's brilliant thinking ! !
BUT.. do you remember the brand?
I had some bad luck with Mountain Home.
Back in the 1980s, I received a surprise visit from my brother. We decided to do
an overnight jaunt on the NW side of Mount
Rainier National Park.
Traveling light, we tasted the freeze-dried
spaghetti the first night. My brother went
running into the bush with a grimace and scowl on his pale-looking face.
Ever since then, I packed a submarine
sandwich with me, in honor of the Beatles
hit tune "Yellow Submarine."

Re: Serious question ...Larry, as they say, 'been there, done that' but not with spaghetti from Mountain Home. I'm sure that was not fun with either of you!
