A Wilderness of Rock and Ice
This is a stitch of two pictures and better viewed in "Orig."
From left to right, this panorama to the south from Dragon's Tail includes the following peaks: Mount Jackson, Gunsight Mountain, and Mount Edwards.
Small glaciers that are no longer technically glaciers hug Jackson's slopes; massive Sperry Glacier, one of the park's largest remaining glaciers, sprawls below Gunsight, with the glacier-fed lakes of Sperry Basin below.
In the foreground is another erstwhile glacier; although it still has ice and crevasses, it no longer meets the technical criteria for a glacier-- at least 100' thick, moving downhill, and at least 25 acres in area.
