Climbed this from the Lake Colden side(solo) in 2009. Then went back with friends and did it again from the Adirondack Loj side(Aug. 2010) Great time and excellent views.

Gorgeous
Crisp snow, clear skies, calm winds, and solitude on the summit...priceless.

Perfect Day
Perfect weather. About a foot of snow on the ground, but the trail was pretty well compacted, having microspikes was very helpful.

Great
Lots of rain in the days prior made the route mroe closely resemble a waterfall, but it was great fun. Rime and wind up top in the clouds, no view. Guess I will have to come back!

Views?
First hike in the Dak's. Great day, great hike. Except for the cloud sitting right on top! Boo! Went a day after a heavy rain so the way down was pretty slippery - and a good amount of ice and wind on top.
I just like signing climbing logs years after the fact .....

record heat
VERY hot day, in the mid- to high 80s all day. Hiked with my wife and had a short, but nice, rest at the top. Really wanted to do Iroquois and Wright, but we just didn't have enough time. Maybe next time.

Took A Chance
Hiked up from Loj via the yellow trail. Weather was iffy, but I decided that's when one can get some really neat pictures. Just above treeline I put on my jacket. About 45 temp and 30 mph winds and almost able to touch the bottom of the clouds it seemed. Went up Wright on the way down. Great day!
UPDATE: Hiked up Algonquin Peak again on 23 May, 2015 with my son (14) and 2 of his friends. Started at the Loj about 8:00 A.M., Memorial Day weekend. Beautiful day and the trail was in great shape except some icy spots higher up. Did this as a loop, taking the trail down the other side, very steep, to Avalanche Pass, and out to Marcy Dam and back to the Loj. 12 miles, 9 1/2 hours total with some breaks and plenty of pictures. I was going to get Iroquois also, but missed the trail at Algonquin's timberline.

Frozen Wonderland
Snowshoed up from the ADK Loj. Weather on the summit was bitter but clear. Great views of Colden and Marcy. Returned Aug 2010 to hike the ridge to Iroquois and Wright.

Winter ascentDidn't really appreciate the "mandatory" snowshoes on the rocky, icy summit with 30-40mph winds. Not a lot of views but still a fun climb.
