Beautiful day, smoky but could still see the white clouds. Camped at Alpine lake hiking in after work Friday to summit Saturday morning. False peaked over to the right first then hit the true summit. No register and lots of flies, bring bug spray. Great views with Corrine, Katelyn, Nick and Liana. Corrine, Liana, and Nick's first summit!!
Nice views of Sawtooth & Alpine Lakes. We took the trail to the very end of Sawtooth Lake and started our ascent up at the small pond just past Sawtooth. Take the grassy looking area up as far as you can then a boulder field to the ridge. Hug the left side of the ridge and hike to the peak! Took us 4 hours to get up from our base camp at Alpine Lake. Took a much-needed dip in Sawtooth Lake afterwards.
08/2020 - First Sawtooth peak. I was so stoked I ran most of the way to the lake. Ive hiked to the lake probably 10 times and every time its great! The drainage discussed will present as you approach the grassy area on the opposite side and be abundantly obvious. I went straight up then traversed left. Super fun day. Stoke level through the roof. Poles were helpful near the top of the ridge.
First Sawtooth peak! Rock color and terrain remind me of parts of the Sierra Nevada, just lower elevation. After the lake it's a simple scramble up scree and talus to a ridge. Up the ridge to the summit.

SW Face
Great day climb from Iron Creek. 12 mile loop of 7 hours, with 2.6 miles of off-trail, 3300' total gain. Overcast, windy at times, and cool. Few sign ins to the register, but strangely three were from 9/13! Lots of fresh goat scat, but no sightings. Great views of Thompson and Williams. The scramble down from Alpine's east ridge toward Alpine Lake was a lot of fun. I uploaded our track jpeg for reference.

Fabulous View
An unpleasant scree slog from Sawtooth Lake rewarded me with a perfect day and view of Merritt Peak and vicinity. Met a fellow trying to invent a loop that involved that hidden little valley and I considered joining him, but did not and tried Regan the next morning. Met 3 from the Sierras descending gingerly and put 1000 feet between us in 2 minutes on lingering snow patches. Coming down is easy on this one. Certainly a peak accessible to everyone and one of my favorite views in the whole range thus far.
Camped with the whole family at Alpine Lake and day hiked up to Sawtooth Lake. Me and my oldest son scrambled up to the top while the rest went down. We tagged the summit before my 4 year old made it back to camp with my wife and other kids.

Reached summit with SuperDave after climbing Regan and Pt 9486. We saw a friendly Marten at the summit! Like Regan, summit log was missing, but we added a temporary one. Great day.
