Re: A joke?

Cyrill is used to think that his photos must be attached to all the pages where they could be linked : so
- attach to the mountain page
- attach to the sub-area page
- attach to area page
- attach to all the ~ related albums
each photo of his is normally attached to 6-8 pages
I told him that (example) the photo of Strahlhorn should be only attached to Strahlhorn page and not also to Pennine Alps, Alps Western part

sometimes I detach them ... but he, telling me that I don't want pictures attached to my pages just to put in evidence only my ones :) - just waits some time and reattach :)

that why I'm waiting for the bulk detacher from mvs

Re: A joke?

Bulk detacher? That's a good idea!
The discussin here is of two things. Borut mentions appropriateness of albums attached and Gabriele mentions appropriateness of pictures attached. There's a slight difference. Regarding pictures I fully agree with Gabriele that they should be attached only to a limited number of pages. Certainly not to such wide areas as Western Alps, Eastern Alps, Rhaetian Alps etc. Maintainers of those wide area pages are able to find the most illustrative photos which illustrate the nature of the area. Imagine a book, where you would have 300 pictures on every 10 pages of text. Would anybody buy it?

Regarding albums, I wrote some more above.

Re: A joke?

Hi Gabriele, I've uploaded the Bulk Detacher (FINALLY). You can get it on the article page for the Summitpost Bulk Uploader. Let me know your thoughts.

To use it you do your search in Summitpost, then paste the URL of your search into the Delete/Detach text pane, press "Search" and then you'll see a table of all the child items of the page. Multiselect items and then press the "Detach" button. You'll only be able to detach files where you have the appropriate permissions (just like pressing the Detach button in Summitpost as usual).

wow

I just read this and saw my name for the bulk detacher. My ears are burning! Problem is that life got in the way, I changed jobs, got busy with other things. Also summitpost elves were so down on my bulk tool that I got discouraged. Why should I spend evenings building something if I'm going to be accused of subverting the structure that genius Josh set up and left us with? Anyway, so I prefer not to think about the whole topic of "software tools to make summitpost better", that way I don't get mad! :-).

Aside from that! Vid, I notice that the Bavarian Pre-Alps links are broken. The page exists and here is the URL: http://www.summitpost.org/area/range/243411/Bavarian-Pre-Alps.html

Thanks all,
-_Michael

Re: wow

O, that's a high level start :-)
These interactive maps lost their importance in SP2, after the Google map feature enabled the same functionality. So, I'm afraid that I'm not maintaining them well.

Re: Loferer and Leonganger Steinberge

Hm? I think you're right. I'd also say the page existed already. But I'm not sure.
