Alpspitze attempt Dec 2022
Attempted to summit alpspitze using the ferrata in winter, unfortunately we were not successful and only reached 2433m. We had to turn back around 16:00 due to the sun setting and not wanting to descend in the dark. We started at 06:00 at the parking lot in Hammersbach and had finished the approach by 12:00. We took a quick lunch break to recover and dropped sleeping bags and other weight from our bags for the summit push. On the approach to the ferrata we were going through waist-chest deep snow and spend ~ 2 hours pushing a few hundred meters. Once we reached the ferrata our pace picked up but we were so tired and had burned too much time that we realized reaching the summit was unlikely. Came down & bivied before heading back down the next morning. Next time we will do the approach hike on day 1, bivy and start the ferrata early the morning of day 2 to ensure enough time even if the going is slow like this time, and then come down later day 2 or bivy again and come down day 3. Will be back to try again

Traverse again
Traverse from the Valley, only few other climbers. A long, but fun day.
I did feel a little sketched out on certain parts-- we had no gear whatsoever and some people were actually using climbing gear and helmets. Definitely still doable, but just be careful. Views and feeling of achievement at the top were well worth it! Got to sign the massive book at the top.
Despite horrible weather, rain hail sleet and snow we made it to the top. Pretty easy climb with only one area that seems exposed and is often windy. I completed this climb a month earlier solo in perfect conditions.

Via Ferrata
My son, Nick, and I got a bit off-route on the way up and found some fixed ropes to follow. We eventually found the main route (metal cables,etc.). We're both glad we brought along the 'chicken slings'. It was socked in by fog/clouds during much of our time ascending and descending this peak.
Fun hike. We were treated to songs by the Trentino Mens Choir at the bar afterward.

Ferrata
A great route to take an aspiring or non-climber. Anything even remotely exposed had either spikes, ladders or cables. Took my wife on this and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
Be the first on the ferrata! Climbed it two times.

Great climb Schöngange - East slope
Walked the first day from the Kreuzeckbahn station up to the Kreuzeckhaus (3h) where we spent the night. Did a short tour in the afternoon to Hochalm-Osterfelderkopf-Kreuzeck. Day two left early and hiked Hochalm-Bergwachthütte-Schöngange klettersteig. Once at the sattel turned left to the Bernardeinkopf first, then turned towards Alpspitze. Went up the Alpspitzrücken east slope, down the other way back to the sattel, down the Schöngange again. Then walked down the Kreuzeckbahn again. Great climb, great views only some clouds and sunny weather only interrupted three times by a short thunderstorm.

Fun summit, never seen so much permanent gear set on a summit (ladders and rails)Didn't used any gear and wasn't too technical, especially with the rails and such. Perfect day and a great view!
