Popular, but rightfully so
Alta is worth the effort, but at least this trail is well-maintained enough to make it a bit more enjoyable getting up there. Pine duff on the lower reaches is a nice shock absorber. Glad I escaped the "rush hour" of hikers on their way up... the word has definitely gotten out about this mountain.

Great day hike
Snowshoed up on a beautiful day. Trail was hard to follow in some parts, but the view from the top and glissade down were well worth it.

Alta Peak Trail, Winter
Left Wolverton just behind a few other daytrippers on their way to Panther Gap and the loop. Snow, deep at times, almost the entire way from about a mile out. No sign of humans at all from Panther Gap on to the top. Straight up I went. Boarded crampons for more stability once the going got steeper. Couldn't believe there was a trail somewhere underneath all the snow. Had difficulty with finding route at first but the ammo box assured me I'd made it. A glorious view eastward to the top of the lower 48.
I must of been 12 - 14 years old. I was pretty stoked to make it to the top!

AP Trail
Hiked with 5 others. The clouds danced all the way to the summit. Chinese lady puked tuna fish sandwich all over my passenger side door. Paranoid that a bear was going to rip off my door.
This has to be one of the best posts I've ever read on this site.

Great quality trail
Great trail in good condition, plenty of creeks for water in mid-june, but a low snow year. Lots of wildlife; deer and a black bear. Summit views are amazing.
