Did this one in 2004 with my dogs. We bagged Shields as well. The pooches loved it. Great views. I love the San Bernardino Ridge.
Why do people say San Jacinto is SOCal's 2nd highest peak, when Jepson and Anderson are both higher. San Jac is SOCal's 4th highest named peak.

9 peaks
Followed the crest over San Bernandino Peak summit to San Bernandino East, Anderson Peak, Shields Peak, Charlton Peak, Little Charlton, Jepson Peak and then the long ridge from Jepson to San Gorgonio. 9 peaks 2 days 26 miles.
Route: From Forsee Creek TH Date Climbed: July 1, 2006
Did this peak as part of a four peak traverse (the others were Shields, San Bernardino Peak, and San Bernardino Pk East). While the lowlands baked in 100+ degree heat today, we enjoyed 75 degree weather above the Forsee Creek Trailhead. We visited the Washington Monument, survey landmark. We returned through Johns Meadow and enjoyed immensely the beautiful wildflowers and the springs and crisp, cool water (we didn't filter) that Forsee Creek afforded.

Foresee creek - x-country from Trail Fork Springs
Going to Vegas the weekend before seemed to have done the necessary damage. I actually got a little altitude sick around 10,000 feet; this is only the 2nd or 3rd time ever. I wasn't physically tired but didn't feel well. Pushed through anyway and made it. I think it's about 14 miles round-trip rather than 12. Came down fast and still took 2h45min.

Forsee Creek
First time up this trail. Couldn't ask for better conditions. Clear sky, no wind, low 70s temps all day. Summited Anderson & San Bdno East. Trail was almost completely dry, no snow or ice gear required. Thanks wingding for joining me!

Conditions about the same as last weekend with a little less snow/ice at lower elevations. Met a real nice couple at the summit about 25 min after I reached. Only people I saw all day! Did this along with East San Bernardino Peak. Summit register is in bad shape if anyone is planning on going up there and wants to replace it.

Great morning! Nobody on the trail early, and only a few on the way down. Saw some real fresh mountain lion tracks in the snow between Jackstraw Spring/ Trail Fork Spring and Dollar Lake Saddle/ Angelus Camp junctions. Lots of snow/ ice from the Dollar Lake Saddle/ Angelus Camp junction on up. At 9:00 A.M. it was almost all ice with a real thin powder dust on to so crampons and ice axe should be a must!

Trail was in ok condition, lots of horse poop along the way for a good nose full,(yuck)! But nice day good views, got a little off trail around jackstraw springs. Good workout!
Route Climbed: San Bernardino Mtn Traverse Date Climbed: June 12, 2004
After hiking steadily for 19 hrs and almost 37 miles later (from Angelus Oaks to San Gorgonio's summit and back to Angelus Oaks), I bagged all of the 9 peaks in the San Bernardino Mountain Traverse in a day. I don't plan to repeat this ever again!!!......the last 8 miles were excruciatingly difficult. Both my legs and back wanted to cramp. I developed several feet blisters and in the last few miles I felt dizzy, almost stumbling down the trail at times (mainly from exhaustion).
Anyway, for those who want to suffer, this is how my day went:
I left my home in Los Angeles at 2:30am Saturday, June 12th and arrived at the Angelus Oaks (a.k.a. San Bernardino Peak) trailhead just after 4:00am.
4:20am: I started the hike from Angelus Oaks (5960').
8:52am: bagged San Bernardino Peak (10,649').
9:38am: bagged San Bernardino East Peak (10,691').
10:18am: bagged Anderson Peak (10,864').
10:54am: bagged Shields Peak (10,680').
11:26am: bagged Alto Diablo Peak (10,563').
12:55pm: bagged Charlon Peak (10,806').
1:14pm: bagged Little Charlton Peak (10,696').
2:04pm: bagged Jepson Peak (11,205').
2:47pm: bagged San Gorgonio (11,499').
3:15pm: left San Gorgonio's summit.
11:13pm: arrived at Angelus Oaks trailhead.
Out of all 9 peaks, I truly enjoyed the views from "Shields Peak."

Had planned an overnight trip but just kept walking and made a day trip out of this. Up Falls Creek, across picking up Shields, Anderson, and SB East before descending down Momyer. A long day but a good trip. Momyer was quite overgrown and I looked like I'd been in a cat fight when I got down.
