I had done Wood Mtn previously and was weathered off of "Animas Forks" et al. So this time, from Cinnamon Pass, I went up the old road that bypasses under Wood Mountain and over to the saddle with Pt 13708. Ran the ridge over Pt 13708 and tagged "Animas Forks." When thunder started as I got back to the Pt 13708/Wood saddle, I decided to skip any extra credit.
1st: 7/25/15 Climbed "Animas Forks", PT 13708, Wood, PT 13688, Gravel and PT 13427. Hiked up the road from near the base of Cleveland Gulch, which would be my eventual descent after PT 13427.
2nd: 6/4/17 (attempt) with Rachael from Animas Forks townsite, up the south ridge, which was mostly dry. We topped out on the western false summit but the ridge to the true summit was a knife edge cornice and we had no axes or crampons. Waited for the snow to soften then skied down the SW face of the mountain and picked up the engineer pass road and hiked back to our car. Southeast face looks like some fun skiing directly off the summit, maybe some other time.

a nice day in high elevation
I was super tired, slept only 1.5 hrs, so drove to Cinnamon Pass, hiked up Wood (2nd time) and continued on the ridge to Point 13,708, descended down to catwalk to "Animas Forks Mountain" and rested on the summit - took 45 min nap. Returned back via catwalk and dropped towards Cinnamon Creek and Cinnamon Pass.
