Re: Sharp!Not on the way up. There's a bit of scrambling, but nothing really "cliffy". What's currently photo #6 in my images shows the route up.
Once you get to the top, there's a spot where you can pretty much dangle your feet off the edge. That's pretty cool if you have the stomach for it. I kept my feet on the rock. (currently image #71)

Re: Sharp!Ice axes definitely yes. Ropes were optional. We did not use ropes. Helmets were a must due to the snow/ice/rock fall from people higher up on the route.
