Re: Awesome!

Thanks!
That was an epic summit day in....2005? 2006?
Or the way down is actually what I remember most. A lot of very, VERY tired climbers with different stages of AMS to take care of.

Good Read............

Janne........you said you were going for a quick summit of Aconcagua. I guess you meant it. Hope we might cross paths this year as I'll be traveling through some of the same areas.

Liba.........good on you for your summit with Janne.

Re: Good Read............

Thanks Jerry... I was slowing Janne down, I think that he could run it and down from the base camp :)

Re: Good Read............

Thanks Jerry.
Any new Tibet plans? That would be the best place to meet!

Re: Good Read............

No dates now but it will definitely happen again. I'm hitting the road in a few weeks. The plan is to either drive or bicycle to Panama and then back north to Alaska and then home. Much depends on the health. I'll probably be on the road for about (6) months. I can meet you in Tibet after that and that would be awesome to climb something. We'll stay in touch. Be safe.

Re: Good Read............

Hope your health will be OK. Central America is good for biking. I cycled through from Panama to the States some years back and had a nice time. I think Mexico and Nicaragua were my favourites...Well, I liked the whole ride. Lots of things to see and do along the way. Have fun!

Great read

Congrats on summiting!

Good idea with the presentation style. Had quite a few laughs.

Seems a very crowded and rather expensive summit - not sure it's my piece of cake.

Re: Great read

Thanks for visiting. Yes, it is crowded, and not a technical peak, but offers its own challenges with the altitude and wind.

Nice text

I'm amazed by the physical condition of both of you ! What an accomplishment, and so fast ! I wonder how would I perform in high altitudes (never popped over 3300) and with this mastodont.
I was once invited to do it in 2002 if I remember well, but I had to decline it due to work and time reasons. The guy who invited me eventually nearly paid his life during his attempt. Diabetic, he had put his capsules of medicines in a place of his rucksack where they had frozen. Out of strength, he had to turn back and owed his successful return only due to a very strong spirt of perseverance. Later he declared he wouldn't climb such mountain again...
Mountains as high as Aconcagua, even if "hiking" mountains, are always somehow dangerous and tricky... it underlines even more how your trip was roundly and wisely undertaken (cigarillo apart !). Bra gjort Janne, gratulace Liba !

Re: Nice text

Thanks Erico, I was wondering about the altitude myself, but felt good. I guess it is not surprising that some people move only 50 meters per hour during the last stretches in the canaleta.

Re: Nice text

Thanks.
The summit cigarrillo is an essential part of it :) It was actually the doctor in the group who really thought I should bring one and also the person who finally found some in the bus station.
I only smoke on summits :)
The rest of the box of cigarrillos (nine) was smoked in one go by one of the Snow Leopards.

Geee...that's a pretty big cup for such a little bottle! I've also enjoyed these after a few climbs...never tastes better than in the mountains!

Thank you for visiting. It was fun to put it together... Janne wanted to work on it more, but he is back in the mountains.

Re: well done

Don't worry about your English! You always seem to get your
point across in an entertaining manner, and that's all that
matters in the end.
