Nice early "winter" season climb, surprisingly warm, calm day for December! Ridge is in good condition, not much snow and minimal cornices. Some snow below treeline so snowshoes still a good idea at least for that section.

with Pacific from McCullough Gulch
Up Pacific's SE slopes, down the NE slopes around Pacific Tarn, and back over to do Atlantic's NE slopes. A moderate snow climb. Took Okie on this trip.

West Ridge
Wow, what a fantastic day! A little on the hot side, and an amazingly deep and fresh snow-pack! Applied sunscreen 3 times and still got burned. I loved this ridge and the views from the summit of this peak are just amazing.
Climbed W ridge from Mayflower Gulch in winter conditions. The knife edge and blustery wind made it interesting. Fun snow ridge, nice views.

West Ridge
David Cooper recommends snowshoes for a winter ascent, and so do I. Postholing to hips on the approach and descent provided a nice workout.

Mohawk Lakes-Pacific Tarn
Climbed Pacific and Atlantic starting from the Mohawk Lakes trailhead and climbing the loose crap of a slope to Pacific Tarn.
Atlantic done first than the traverse to Pacific.
BTW...Do NOT do that slope in the summer. Do the east ridge instead

winter north and west ridge
Traversed from Pacific to Atlantic and descended the West Ridge. Not quite enough snow at this time of year for the cornices to form, but there were some good features and it was a beautiful scene.

Summer West Ridge
Climbed the West Ridge with Heath. Kelly and Kim made it nearly all the way. Lots of loose talus on 2 miserable slopes, other than that it was a fun class 2/3 scramble with some exposure. Parking way up the Mc Gulch road was a welcome surprise.
Not very impressed actually with this mountain.
The ridge leading over to Fletcher however, WOW!

UP: Atlantic Cooly DOWN: Ski of saddle b/w Atlantic/Pacific
Climbed Atlantis in good conditions. We started up w/o crampons as the snow was rather soft and punch, even at 8am, but the shaded areas in the couloir were pretty firm, so we found a safe rest spot in the chute to put the crampons on. Skinned from the top of the couloir to the summit and skied off the summit down through the saddle with Pacific. Snow is getting soft early and not completely freezing overnight.

Fun Day
Climbed W ridge with MikeyB. Dropped skis and snowshoes at base of ridge. Lots of new snow made for tough plodding, but not horrendous. Above 13k had a bit of bitter wind kicking. Finally got all the summits in this gulch and it was my first sunny/clear day up there. 7hrs.
