Started at the Henry Fork trailhead. Took the spur trail and briefly looked for alligators at Alligator Lake. Not a gator in sight! Turned right at Elkhorn Crossing and established camp at Bear Lake. Didn't see any elk at Elkhorn Crossing or any bears (fortunately) at Bear Lake. This detour to Bear Lake added several miles to the trek but I encountered several beautiful small lakes. Didn't encounter anyone on this slightly longer approach. Back on the main trail, I crossed over Gunsight Pass towards Painter Basin. Turned right on the spur trail to Anderson Pass and climbed the ridge to Kings Peak. Met three "peak-baggers" on the summit. Together we "skied" down the steep scree slope north of Anderson Pass and hiked back to the main trail. Snow was expected on the peak the following night.
