Augustine navigation

Augustine navigation

Routes taken on Augustine, to the summit as well as the north and south and west parts of the island. GPS data courtesy S. Henton. Travel is easy above the alder thickets which ring the lower elevations. Getting above them and then cutting around is your best bet. Travel around the coast is slow and afflicted by tidal changes as is evident by the doubling back by the small lagoon on the west side of the island. At low tide you can go straight across (see here).
