Take Two
I climbed it yesterday, for the second time. I would call the route I did "South Face Direct." It's a tough bushwhack from any direction.

Bushwhack to Austin
There were good views of Furnace and Trayfoot from the Austin Mountain Trail. I tried to find the summit trail on the north side of the mountain, but what I thought were the remnants of the trail turned out not to be. Eventually, I gave up and scrambled up a rock slide to the ridge. From there, I bushwhacked along the ridge to the summit. The views from the summit were worth it.
