Re: I Hope...There are two tyroleans across the river. I was there last week trying to get details, but still have found only conflicting info. There is one at East Portal, but two different rangers told me two different things about it: One that it's used only by fisherman; the other said that it's locked and used only by authorized researchers. I was told there is (or is not, depending who was telling) another at Cruise Gulley, an unofficial "non-route" that is (or is not, depending who was telling) just upriver from SOB Draw. Maybe next time you're up there you can ferret this out, Liba. Apparently Ranger Vic Z. is the climbing expert for the park, but he wasn't available during my visit. I was assured that the tyroleans are well-maintained by the park service.
