Different Range
Beautiful day to break trail in 6-12" of the gooey-est snow I've been in for a long long time! Winds were a wonderful sustained 35mph with gusts that nearly knocked me over but the sun was out and we stayed pretty warm. Can't wait for a couple more feet of wet stuff to set this baby up for some ski descents!
Tagged Burnham as well....boring summit.

Vincent Gap
Both parking lots were full! So much for a peacefull hike. Otherwise really enjoyed it!
2nd time, this time from MM 66.38 to Mt. Islip, Mt. Hawkins, Throop Peak, Mt. Burnham, Mt. Baden-Powell and back.

Better from Dawson Saddle
Great trail from Dawson Saddle to PCT and then to Baden Powell. One of the best views in the entire range and very popular.

from Windy Gap
Good opportunity to bag a few other little peaks on the way. Nice views of Iron Mountain and Baldy.

Good Ol BP
Third time up BP, one of my favorite peaks boasting my favorite view:
7/9/2011 - Hiked up from Windy Gap, perfect weather, could rest on this summit for days.
1/15/2011 - Snow climb, deep crunchy snow. Followed the standard trail from Vincent Gap for 3 or 4 switchbacks then abandoned it and headed straight up the north face. Icy towards top. Pics here: Baden-Powell Winter Climb | Flickr
11/14/2010 - First ascent, via Vincent Gap, cold gusty conditions.

Snowshoe Baden-Powell
Snowshoed the northface of Mt Baden-Powell from Vincent Gap. Made the summit under very windy conditions, but afforded beautiful views north into the Antelope Valley and West to the Pacific Ocean.

The mountain is still covered in snow and ice, which gave us a great excuse to practice some mountaineering. We ignored the trail and went straight up a a couloir. It took 5 1/2 hours to slog our way straight up to the summit, and 20 minutes to glissade down. What a rush!

Still tons of snow
Road clear to Vincent Gap but watch out for the rocks in the road. Snow all the way to the bottom of the mountain. Got about 1/3 of the way up on snowshoes before running out of time. Beautiful day but hard to keep on the trail and the slope was tough on the snowshoes.

Deep Pow
The best powder day I've ever seen on SoCal. The road to Vincent Gap so we had to hike in a couple miles on a snow covered road. Broke fresh snow all the way to the summit.

My introduction to the San Gabriels
First peak in the San Gabriels for me, did this from Dawson Saddle not long after ACH opened in its entirety for the first time in years. Very interesting weather, with thunder in the distance and small pellets of hail showering on me! Nevertheless, the views were still excellent and it was a great introduction to the San Gabes for me.

Stellar Snow
Absolutely amazing cold smoke powder for a nice 2800' splitboard descent, in Socal no less! Will definitely be back for more turns in the future.

I hiked the PCT as part of our Transcontinental Triathlon and summited Baden Powell along the way. Bad weather with no view, but it feels so good to be at a summit for a change.
