Re: Is this...
At my advanced age, it's difficult to remember. But, I think so. It's actually a great route, and using the Baker Lake Ridge as the descent, one I believe you'd like. Not as a challenge, but as a "rest day" climb with plenty of opportunities for photography.
Unfortunately, the portion of the route from the trailhead to Gem Lake is also used to reach North Trapper, and that's one I KNOW you'll want to do. Of course, if everyone's (could be just the 2 of us) legs hold out after North Trapper, it would be possible to climb the gully, then hit Trapper and descend by the Baker Lake Ridge. It'd be a hell-of-a day, but if we could make it, one never to be forgotten.
The description of the Baker Lake Ridge route was spot on, except for the mileage. I mapped it with my GPS and it said 4.8 miles from trailhead to summit, not 3.5 miles.
I've climbed this route many times and every time my Garmen GPSs have indicated the route mileage within a tenth of 3.5 miles. Sorry, but I stand by my mileage.
